As pandemic restrictions are lifted throughout the state, residents of Dallas and surrounding areas can look forward to a summer filled with community events, programs, activities, and entertainment. However, we should proceed with caution, keeping in mind that COVID19 is still a serious concern. According to some experts, the chance to gain a bit of normalcy by traveling, visiting friends and relatives, and soaking up the sun and fun available to us this summer will be a boost to our overall mental health and wellness. Still, those with underlying health conditions must continue to take extra steps to limit their contact with those who might have the virus.

The key to enjoying any event is to get there and home safely. Remember, when you’re on the road in the summer months there are more distractions, more inexperienced drivers, more tourists, more kids out playing, and inevitably, more alcohol consumption – especially during holiday weekends like Memorial Day (click the link for accident statistics) Additionally, the problems that extremely hot days can cause for auto safety concerns like under-inflated tires that can lead to blowouts, the rule is to be prepared and vigilant every time you’re behind the wheel.
